The Limited AIR Edition - Model L. A. was created for the great Leonidas Kavakos. This signature edition was specially developed for players who normally or often need to position their instrument more to the left so they can completely stretch the bow arm on a down-bow movement. This model is called the Los Angeles Edition a.k.a. the L.A. Edition since the arms of this specific shoulder rest spread like an angel's wing.
The difference between the standard model and the Model L.A. is the curve of the breastwing (first picture: standard model, bottom picture: Model L.A.)
The DOLFINOS Violin Rest System is a Swiss Made product developed with leading scientific institutions and includes various ground-breaking innovations. The key innovation is that the standard shoulder rest is split into two cushions. Each cushion is able to move independently which enables a maximum fit for each body geometry.
The Limited Air Edition - Model L.A. for violin includes a shoulder rest made of bendable Aircraft Aluminium, an adapter, and an ergonomic wooden chin rest of your choice. The length of the shoulder rest is 184mm long.
The violin adapter opens up to a height of 44 mm and closes to 34 mm. If your violin is higher than 44mm, please order the Limited AIR Edition - Model L.A. with a bigger violin adapter (37-47mm). In order to ensure that you buy the proper adapter size, please measure the width of your violin from the top plate to the bottom plate (see picture) and choose the right size accordingly.
The shoulder rest and the slider plates of the Limited Air Edition are made of Aircraft Aluminium and can therefore be postmanufactured (additional bending of the curved wings and the plates). Please follow the user’s manual instructions or ask for help from the DOLFINOS service team. If the user wishes to put the clavicula slider parallel to the clavicle this can be either achieved by bending the curved slider or ordering an additional flat one.
The standard cushions of the Limited Air Edition are made of a high-end memory foam material for which we won the German FSK Innovation Prize. This material is extremely responsive and durable.
You can choose between six different wooden chinrest models and one chinrest made of ABS:
BERLIN has a broader lip which offers an extra hold, therefore often chosen by violists. Height of chinrest, minimum - maximum extension: 25mm – 35mm.
BERLIN LOW: Height of chinrest, minimum - maximum extension: 20mm – 30mm.
VENEZIA is lower in height and is recommended for players with shorter necks. Height of chinrest, minimum - maximum extension: 13mm–23mm.
LISBON works especially well for extreme left to middle playing positions and shorter necks. Gives an extra hold over the tailpiece. Height of chinrest, minimum - maximum extension: 15mm – 25mm.
In addition to this wooden collection, we also offer the TOLEDO chinrest, which is made of antistatic black ABS. It is our full injection molded universal chinrest. We have designed it after our most popular model, the wooden VIENNA. In this new design, we have included all the user feedback from around the world to make it maybe the most universal chinrest we can now offer. You can choose between either TOLEDO High (for longer necks, 24-34mm) or TOLEDO Low (for shorter necks, 19-29mm).
All our chinrests come along with the highest grade of nonallergic med-tech Titanium Rods (Grade 5 Titanium, which is used for implants).
